From Frankfurt to the whole world: Contargo starts Rhine-Main-Rotterdam shuttle
The hinterland container network Contargo offers from January a new rail link between Rotterdam and Frankfurt am Main. The Rhine-Main-Rotterdam shuttle starts on a fixed timetable with two back-and-forth trips per week. Contargo provides this route for several years and is now developing its own line as a continued service.
"The Rhine-Main-Rotterdam shuttle is a real alternative, especially for time-critical import and export shipments in the Rhine-Main region," says Andreas Mager, managing Director of Contargo Industry Höchst GmbH. "In addition to the fixed timetable, stability and environmental friendliness are other important arguments for this product."
The first freight train starts on January 11 in Rotterdam and is directly operable from the terminals ECT, APMT1, Euromax and RSC. There is also an option to connect to-and-from APMT2 and RWG and further to deep- and shortsea terminals. The train between Rotterdam and Frankfurt runs twice a week, if necessary, the frequency can be increased to three departures. In Rotterdam the train departs every Monday and Thursdays, Tuesdays and Fridays in the opposite direction from the Contargo terminal at the Höchst Industrial Park in Frankfurt.
"The connection Frankfurt-Rotterdam is another important step in the systematic expansion of rail transport in the Rhine-Main area, next to the for over five years existing link form Hamburg to Frankfurt and vice versa," said Christian Eich Meier, Managing Director of Contargo Rhein-Main GmbH.
